What training programs do you offer?
We offer hybrid board and train programs: Puppy Jumpstart, VIP Raise and Train (Houston only), 2 Week Custom Board and Train, and 4 Week Custom Board and Train. In Houston we also offer Doggie Day School, so your dog trains during the day and comes home at night. Past clients can book Day School Tune-Ups at either location.
Overnight boarding and Adventure Days (a trainer-led alternative to daycare) are Houston only on our Boarding page.
Are Houston and Austin the same team?
No. Houston and Austin are separate locations, each with its own team trained, operated, and supervised by the owner, Heather. You work with the people closest to you. Call Houston at (713) 909-7968 or Austin at (512) 648-4510. If you are not sure which is closer, call either number and we will sort it out.
Who trains my dog, and what are your credentials?
Heather Mozingo is the owner and operator and a national level IGP titled trainer. Matt Bourgoin is Head Trainer and Training Director in Houston, and a graduate of NePoPo Gold School and NePoPo Gold Premium. Kaylah Tong is our Austin Trainer and a graduate of Starmark Academy. Our trainers are graduates of NePoPo Gold school and Starmark Academy.
How do you train?
We use balanced, relationship-based training. Good behaviors are rewarded and made reliable. Problem behaviors are addressed. We never use fear or pain to scare a dog into listening. We also train you, not just the dog, so the change holds at home.
What happens after my dog comes home?
Board and train includes a go-home lesson and follow-up lessons so you know how to keep the work going. Puppy Jumpstart includes a go-home lesson and 2 follow-ups. The 2 week custom program includes a go-home lesson and 2 follow-ups plus an e-collar. The 4 week custom program includes a go-home lesson and 3 follow-ups plus an e-collar. We stay available if something slips. Lifetime support is part of how the programs are built.
Do you use an e-collar?
Our 2 week and 4 week custom board and train programs include e-collar training for reliability, distance work, and clear communication. Puppy Jumpstart is early work (markers, crate and house manners, name recognition, leash training, social skills, and beginning obedience). If you have questions about equipment, ask on the consult. We will tell you what we would use for your dog and why.
How long will my dog be with you?
Puppy Jumpstart and the 2 week custom program are 2 weeks. The 4 week custom board and train is 4 weeks. VIP Raise and Train is 12 weeks, and it is Houston only. All board and train programs are customized, and they can be extended if we need more time for behavior issues or extra reliability.
When should I start a puppy?
Puppy Jumpstart is for puppies ages 8 weeks through 5 months. VIP Raise and Train is for puppies 6 months and under, Houston only. You do not have to wait until problems get worse. Starting in this window is how house manners, leash skills, and early obedience get in place before they are harder to change.
What is the difference between Adventure Days and daycare?
Adventure Days is a trainer-led alternative to daycare at our Houston location. Instead of a loud play group, your dog goes on one-on-one outings with a trainer, with play on the property, pack walks, and real-world manners. They come home tired from healthy work, not overstimulated. Rates are $45 a day or $800 a month unlimited ($40 a day). Details live on the Boarding page.
Can I board my dog if they are not in a training program?
Yes. We offer boutique, trainer-led boarding on a 4 acre Houston property. Dogs are supervised around the clock and never left alone. Boarding is $50 a night, with optional extras. Boarding is Houston only. See the Boarding page for the full list and to inquire.
Is Doggie Day School available in Austin?
Doggie Day School is Houston only, with drop-off and pickup at our Cypress area location. It is not a fit for dogs with serious behavior issues. Day School Tune-Ups for past clients ($50 a day, or $1,000 unlimited monthly) are available at all locations.
Can you customize or extend a program?
Yes. All board and train programs are customized to your dog and your goals. Programs can be extended to address more serious behavior issues or to add obedience reliability. Tell us what is going on and we will recommend a length and a plan, or tell you if we are not the right fit.
What should I expect after I fill out the form?
Pick Houston or Austin and tell us about your dog. We read every form and call you to talk it through. From there we recommend a plan. The consult is free.
